Important changes to Teams Licensing

Microsoft has made two very important announcements – and expect lots of announcements going forward from Microsoft announcing add-ons – that is, features and services that you have to buy over and above what you have already paid for.

To understand exactly how much this will cost you on YOUR Microsoft agreement, it is important to contact your FT AM who will help you further with the pricing.

Teams Premium Arriving in Feb. 2023

This will be licensed as an add-on to Teams and expected to cost you a pretty penny, sorry, dollar, of $120 per user per year!

It promises to deliver some very interesting functionality such as Intelligent recap – read all about it and other advanced features here. In addition, it will not only do live Transcription in 40 Languages, but will also do live translation (hopefully including translating the ability to swear profusely in your native language for everybody else to get their special native translation).

Update to Teams Room Licensing

Microsoft has updated the licensing to be a choice between Teams Rooms Basic and Teams Room Pro.

Teams Rooms basic is free with basic features for use with up to 25 devices.

Teams Room Pro will be at $480 per room per year including support for dual screens and Teams Panels.

Teams Shared Device Licenses are expected to be available soon to support specific requirements relating to Teams Panels and Displays.

The Teams Managed services is removed to allow partners to provide support services around meeting room managed along with AI support.

Here is the blog relating to all the announcements around Teams Rooms, Devices and Intelligent cameras. Note the different arrangements of seating with the different types of engagements.
